About

Some lives - human and pet - are too important to be remembered from a distance. Tribute Trees creates premium memorial trees for families across British Columbia by gently incorporating cremated ashes into a living tree that grows close to home.

A living presence - natural, lasting, and personal.

Across cultures and generations, trees have been planted to mark lives and milestones. Tribute Trees builds on this tradition, creating living memorials that grow and endure over time.

Unlike many memorial trees planted in public parks or forests, a Tribute Tree grows at home - present in your daily life, not somewhere you have to find or visit.

Tribute Trees honours the lives of people and beloved pets. Because some bonds don't need explaining.

Our Story

Ann Gallery and Simone Hicks are longtime friends and passionate gardeners on Vancouver's North Shore. After a loved one's ashes sat on a shelf for years - present but unresolved - they began searching for something more living, something that felt right.

They carefully incorporated cremated ashes into a young tree and planted it in Ann's garden.

Through trial and error, they learned that cremated ashes - high in both pH and mineral content - must be carefully integrated into soil to support healthy tree growth. After two failed attempts, patience, experimentation, and testing led them to the right approach. Today, that tree is a flourishing, living memorial, rooted close to Ann's heart and home.

Many families across British Columbia are doing the same - bringing someone they love closer to home, in a way that continues.

How a Tribute Tree is Made

  1. Stewardship Kit - After ordering, you'll receive a thoughtfully prepared kit with a labeled collection container and secure, pre-paid return packaging. Each order carries a unique ID number and QR code so your loved one's or pet's ashes are tracked - and accounted for - throughout the entire process.
  2. Incorporation & Growth - Once we receive the ashes, cultivation begins. Depending on the amount you choose to send, this process takes four to 12 weeks. We carefully incorporate the ashes into a specially prepared soil blend, monitoring pH and nutrient balance to support strong, healthy root development.
  3. Delivery - We deliver outdoor trees during appropriate planting conditions, pausing only in July and August when the summer heat and dry soil make it the wrong time for new roots to establish. Indoor trees are available year-round and are delivered once ready, designed to live comfortably in the home.

At every stage, our focus is stewardship - honouring each life with care, ensuring thoughtful handling, and nurturing a living memorial meant to grow for years to come.
