Diane's Story

"The experience of integrating my father's ashes into a soil formula for a beautiful Japanese maple has been incredibly healing. For me, this tree is more than just a memorial; it represents his legacy and his ability to continue growing and thriving, even after passing on."

When Diane first reached out to Tribute Trees, she was looking for a way to honour her father. What she found, she says, was something more.

Her father's cremated ashes have been integrated into the soil of a Japanese maple tree, now in cultivation at our nursery on the North Shore of British Columbia. The tree is not yet delivered. And yet the process has already been meaningful.

Here is her story, in her own words.

"I cannot recommend this beautiful process highly enough. When I first approached Simone about creating a living memorial for my father, I was looking for a way to honor his memory, but I found so much more than that.

The experience of integrating my father's ashes into a soil formula for a beautiful Japanese maple has been incredibly healing. For me, this tree is more than just a memorial; it represents his legacy and his ability to continue growing and thriving, even after passing on.

What made this journey truly special was the gentle, thorough, and deeply empathetic way Simone guided me through it. She held space for the heaviness of my loss with such kindness, making the transition feel sacred. The process itself is intentionally slow, which I came to realize was a gift it provided me with the necessary time and space to process my grief and grow alongside the tree.

Having this living tribute gives me a way to keep my father close by. It has become a place to share stories, keep his legacy alive, and welcome others into the memories and moments that defined him. Watching this Japanese maple grow is a daily reminder that love and life continue in new, beautiful forms. If you are looking for a meaningful way to honor a loved one, I truly believe this is a profound and transformative path."
